Reflexology
Reflexology can be traced back
to ancient China, India and Egypt. Reflexology uses ten
distinct areas or zones within the body similar to the
meridian system used in acupuncture of Traditional Chinese
Medicine. The Meridians are channels or pathways through
which the body's vital energy (Qi) flows.
As the zone travels through the body it intersects with
various organs that lie on the same line. Therefore each
zone connects the organs within it through the same energy
flow. If energy along any one zone is disrupted in any way
then the organs lying within the same zone will also be
affected.
The importance of this is that it is possible to indirectly
treat the organs of the body through applying pressure to
specific areas of the hands or feet.
Reflexology is therefore a method of healing that allows
the indirect treatment of various areas of the body through
the understanding and manipulation of the bodies natural
flows of energy.
